One of the secrets of true success is in being prepared for the reaction that occurs in response to the idea or thing put into motion.
eg. If one country wants to attack another country, and it has not prepared for the inevitable retaliation, it will soon meet with disaster.
eg2. If two people have a baby together and are not prepared for the task ahead of them in looking after, raising and educating them then their parenthood will be anything but a pleasant experience.
eg3. If you decide that being "successful" is what you want, and you achieve it, and are not prepared for what goes with it, your success will be short-lived.
Money itself does not really solve any problems, it simply lets you arrive at them in style. Also, fixing one problem can quite easily create another if the wrong solution is chosen.
It was once jokingly said
"If you set out to fail and you succeed, have you succeeded or failed ?"
But it is a very serious question.
Let's say you decided to make a million dollars and you achieved that goal. Then you find that having that money has not brought you the happiness you thought it would.
Have you succeeded or failed ?
On one hand, you have succeeded in attaining your goal, albeit not the one you really wanted or needed. But you failed in achieving happiness.
To some, Fame is what they imagine will make them happy. But then when they achieve it, they have to get around in dark sunglasses to avoid being recognised.
For others, it is Money. When they become rich, they find that there is so much work involved in sustaining that money and tending to all the stuff that goes with it, that there is scarcely any time to enjoy themselves.
Still others think personal Beauty is the answer. Twenty years later they are paying the price for what they have done to their bodies and are looking ten times worse than when they started.
And so it goes on.
So what IS worth striving for ?
Is it happiness ?
No. Trying to find happiness is like the old woman who is looking for her glasses and can't find them because they are on her head.
Happiness (along with much other nice stuff), comes about as an EFFECT of being in the desired state of being - it should not be made a "goal" or target to be striven for.
As Patric so eloquently stated "Immerse Yourself".
FIND YOUR LOVE.
(not what or who you think you would love)
Be especially careful with thoughts like
"If only I had <insert such and such>, then I would he happy"
Only if you have chosen wisely, then will the new problems will be easier to deal with and will you find yourself TRULY that much happier.
