A friend of mine recommended that I use NLP to help enhance my meditation experience because I always complain that I cannot keep my mind still while I meditate. Does anyone know whether it works?
Appreciate any feedback I can get.

Hey Andrew
I'm certainly no expert but there have been claims that it has helped to sharpen people's focus and they are more alert and driven on their tasks. There should be no harm trying but I would suggest that you get a program from someone who is an expert in NLP rather than one of those run off the mill gurus.
Update us on your experience if you can.

It most certainly does. Watch some Jamie Smart videos on Youtube, he's fantastic.

Thanks for the recommendation, Lemonarian. NLP is something new to me so I had been searching around for a good resource to help Andrew. If you have any additional resources, it will be most appreciated.

For me, NLP is all about self-hypnotic.
I believe it does really works if you practice enough.
But I'm happier to applying "Law of Attraction" than "NLP".
I don't know if it can be compared between "Law of Attraction" and "NLP" or not.
But I love somewhat "simple and stupid" and I found myself "NLP" is too scientific for me.
Just believe and go on!

Thanks for sharing, jknightx :) BTW, I love your lense! I haven't had the time to really go through it yet, but I'm sure I will learn a lot.

Andrew,
I studied NLP for several years and applied it to communicating more effectively with others and in teaching. One basic idea is that individuals record experiences in their brain visually (seeing), auditorially (hearing), and kinesthetically (body/movement/sensation). From this, you can change how you think, recast traumatic memories so they no longer dominate you, model other people'e excellence to more quickly reach proficiency in a skill - the list goes on. It takes training or guidance to be able to use NLP this way.
I have not applied NLP to meditation. Rather, I have studied meditation through several workshops and teachers. One of the neatest was an 8-week session my yoga teacher offered. Each week was a different method.
Well, one was to simply sit and NOTICE. That's right. Just NOTICE - if a thought came in, if you had a feeling (body sensation), if you heard a sound, if you tasted something, if you smelled something, whatever. Just notice it, label it (as thought, feeling, sound, smell, taste, etc.), and let it go. Do not follow it with your mind. Let it go and continue noticing as you sit there. This method was very effective for me. My mind could race, it didn't matter. Another part of me labeled it and let it go. Over time, I was quieter.
There is more than one way to meditate. If you use a sitting meditation, try the one mentioned here - just noticing, labeling, and letting go. See what happens over time, as your body gets used to sitting and your mind is used to label.
If you're a kinesthetic (active) type, try a moving meditation, such as walking (with your attention just on walking), or tai chi. Give yourself the liberty to find a meditation method that works for you. Even just sitting and BREATHING with attention (count 4 seconds of in-breath and 8 seconds of out-breath) can work. I wish you the best.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for your help.
Sheryl, Lemonarian and joeknightx, thanks for the recommendations. I will check them out.
Seree and Bolero, thanks for your insights. I have just started my journey of getting in touch with my spirituality, so it will be very interesting discovering all the different techniques.
